In the late 1940’s and early 1950’s many Dutch migrants arrived in Australia. It was a tough time and many felt the need spiritually, emotionally and culturally to profess their faith in their Lord and Saviour.

 

So in 1952 the Reformed Church of Australia was formed. The Central Coast worship services commenced in 1953 with about eight families. These worship services were held in the homes of the families, and as there was no Minister, the services were led by members. This was also a good time for all the migrants to meet socially. On special occasions such as weddings and Baptisms, a Minister from Sydney was asked to attend and lead the services.

Prior to the building of the first Church, services were held at Kangy Angy and Springfield. For many years Gosford and Newcastle were regarded as one Church with both congregations sharing the same Vicars, Ministers and having a combined Sessions (Church Council).

Our first Church building was located in Althorpe Street, East Gosford and is still being used today by various local organisations.

In the year of 1976 we became instituted as a Church known as the Reformed Church of Gosford. Our first pastor arrived in 1979 and our present Minister, Rev. Nobin Shunmugan, has been with us since 2007.

Having outgrown the Church in East Gosford, a new property was purchased and a Church and manse were build. The first service was held in 1996. It was a real time of thankfulness and praise to experience God’s Blessings.

A new place of worship can only lead to a new name and the Christian Reformed Church of Wamberal was born.
